iPad Magazines in iBooks App Store

Since my original post and excitement about magazine design for tablets (iPad Magazines Post) I am now a proud owner of an iPad.

Once I unpacked the iPad I dove right into the iBooks app to look for my first ipad magazine.

Next I headed to the iBook store app which is not pre-loaded but is prompted as an app download once the ipad in sync’d for the first time.

After installing the iBook app I searched for magazines and also looked at the categories tab to learn that magazines don’t yet have a seat at the table for the ipad.  I’ll post updates and look forward to seeing new magazine apps listed.  It would be excellent to have an iPad magazines featured section in the store.

I couldn’t agree more. I did the same thing when I got my iPad2 this week and was quite disappointed to see that there weren’t any magazines on iBooks. And then looking further into iBooks, I was especially disappointed to see the outrageous prices. Guess I’m going to have to stick to print for now… it’s cheaper and “in-print” ;-)

I agree 100%. I got an Ipad2 instead of a Kindle specifically because of the color graphics. I assumed there was a huge selection on digital magazine subscriptions available. There is something going on because they do have magazine apps (like Popular Science), but not regular subscriptions. I is unecessarily complicated and hidden.
